The Grant County Economic Development Council (Grant County EDC) is pleased to report the launching of its new Five-Year Partnership in Prosperity campaign and strategy. Originally unveiled to Grant County EDC members and partners on Wednesday, October 24, 2023 at Pillar Rock Grill in Moses Lake, the strategic plan not only outlines Grant County EDC’s budget and capital raise goals, but vision and program components plotting a path for measurable economic success goals in Grant County.
The Partnership in Prosperity plan, developed in cooperation with public and private sectors, as well as in consultation with 60 businesses across Grant County, was designed to enhance prosperity, attract and retain investments along with talent, and position Grant County as a robust and innovative county of growth and opportunity. With an established budget of $2 million dollars, Grant County EDC has already raised 77% of that goal at $1,546,250 via soft launch earlier this year.
Campaign Co-Chair Dr. Sara Thompson-Tweedy, Big Bend Community College, said, “We are thrilled that 40 companies have already committed to this vital program. They are making an investment in Grant County’s economic future.”
The plan’s components include initiatives for:
Retention & Expansion of Existing Businesses, including small business development
New Business Recruitment & Attraction
Workforce Development
Infrastructure Development
Investor Relations & Communications
The plan’s five-year goals are to:
Serve 25 small businesses clients annually
Engage 50 existing industry retention visits and interactions each year
Facilitate 550 primary new jobs with average wages above the existing county average
Assist with 10-12 job-creating infrastructure projects
Mark Fancher of Coldwell Banker, another Campaign Co-Chair, said. “Achieving those 550 new jobs, paying livable wages, will actually create another 760 secondary jobs for a total of more than 1300 new roles. That will generate $68 million in new annual payroll and $38 million in new discretionary consumer expenditures annually.”
Grant County EDC Board Chair Louis Szablya of Grant PUD, said, “Grant County EDC is most successful as the public/private partnership that it is, and we all benefit from the outcomes.”
